Lesson 15

Unlike some of the lessons before, this one was one of those lessons where I had to do lots of manoeuvres in the road.

I went driving for a little bit before my instructor stopped me to do a turn in the road. I’m become quite accustomed to these, so I just had a quick look around, drove forward on full lock, went into reverse, had another look, went back, went into first gear, had a look and drove on. Apparently, my turn in the road is very nearly 100%.

After a while driving, my instructor decided to do the last thing left on the sheet: right reverse around a corner. In fact, this was my first time at doing it, but for some reason, I was better at it than my left reverse, which has more chance of coming up in the exam. Not to worry, though, as I will have more practise of both before the test!

Today’s highlight was when I was waiting to turn right into a small road. As I was looking and waiting for traffic to stop, some guy drove out of another side road right in front of a van. He got hooted, and then stopped and allowed me to drive on. As if this wasn’t enough, I stalled for some reason, and had a heck of a time getting the car to start for one reason or another. Anyway, I got through that little incident and drove on.

Right at the end of my lesson, I tried out some bay parking. The test centre have now banned learners from trying out bay parking inside the centre, so I had to go and try it out in a car park. It was a little more difficult than the centre, but I managed to get the car inside the lines with a little bit of manoeuvring.

I now have only a few more lessons left before my test, so hopefully I’ll learn everything I need to pass it first time.
